Woman arrested after shooting in view of police

Youngsville police arrested a woman Monday after she allegedly shot her boyfriend in the back in front of police officers.

The shooting happened in the 400 block of Detente Road around 12:10 p.m.

The suspect, Carronda Lynette Syon, had apparently called 911 dispatchers and told them her boyfriend was coming to the residence, according to Youngsville Police Chief Earl Menard.

Menard said there was some indication that the suspect did not want her boyfriend there.

When an officer arrived, both the victim and suspect were standing on the porch.

The victim started walking toward the officer when Syon allegedly shot him in the back, according to Menard.

The victim, whose name name has not been released, was transported to Lafayette General Medical Center.

Details of his condition were not immediately available on Tuesday afternoon.
