Martin Bormann Memorandum: Securing Germany’s Future

Securing the future of the German people Martin Bormann, Adolf Hitler’s secretary, speculated in his Jan. 29, 1944 memorandum on Securing Germany’s Future, “How many children would have been born in this war if it had been possible to give our front-line soldiers any leaves at all or more frequently?”  He did not go into very much detail on the extent of the demographic calamity that World War II had imposed on Germany, but he most certainly did not underestimate the problem of the lack of births.
