Does your house need to have its roof replaced?

We thought that it was time that our house needs to have its roof replaced. If you live in Lamont County, or close to it, and you need your roof fixed, consider Best West Roofing (@ bestwestroofing.com ). I spoke to Dean Stokes about having our roof done, on Friday, June 12th.  He and his crew showed up the following Monday. They were done with replacing the shingles on our roof a day later, in the afternoon. Everything was cleaned up, and not a trace of them having done any work was left, other than our roof having new shingles.

Mother Earth is a concept of the stone age

Today someone asserted: All is evolution….. for good and bad. We can either accept what is (there is only now) and continue our journey to self-knowledge and healing in order to affect change both within and without and/or we can make an attempt to make some difference in the way we behave in the world, in society and within our family of origin. The first and most important journey has to be within. What will be will be…. we have come too far now in terms of destruction of mother earth to save it, whether in 20 years or 200….. or 2000…. Mother Earth is a pagan concept, a religious … Continue reading

The exploding population of Ross Snow Geese

The exploding population of Ross Snow Geese Today’s Edmonton Journal carried a Canadian Press article (p. A10) that explains that the population of Ross’ Snow Geese has grown to such large proportions (two million) that it is denuding large areas of its habitat in the North. The article expresses hopes that the population of Ross’ Snow Geese is still small enough so that it can be brought under control by human hunters.  The species was declared overabundant in 1999, meaning that hunters are permitted to shoot them spring through fall, after it had been brought close to the verge of extinction in the 1930s. Spring-time in Alberta

Just a couple of days ago we had about 500 cranes moving through to go to their breeding grounds up north. Today it is snowing once more. That is spring-time in Alberta. Ruth’s tomato plants are spreading out and take up more space by the day in the house. Believe it or not, in a couple of days we will be able to move them outside to the cold-bed. The forecast is for warmer weather, +19C, and sometimes at this time of the year the forecast is correct.

More problems with Norton

More problems with Norton The problems that the filtering and blocking by O2 and Symantec (makers of Norton Internet Security and Norton Antivirus) of pro-male human-rights websites causes are not all. Read the article by Angry Harry at the indicated link. Problems with Norton Internet Security It must have been about 13 years ago when I first underwent the horrors that Norton Internet Security inflicted upon me. It crashed my computer endlessly, slowed it down to a snail’s pace – with the hard drive whirring away for minutes at a time – and my download speeds on the internet were continually abysmal. This went on for about three months. At … Continue reading

Commenting on posts is enabled

Commenting on posts is enabled, for now. It is not yet clear to me that I will be able to stay on top of having to moderate all comments that are being made, but it appears that the amount of spam will no longer be intolerable.  The spam-checking software is doing a reasonably good job and helps to keep the volume of work for moderating down to manageable levels. About the moderating, it is not being done to censor but solely to make sure to keep spam out.  Still, this is a moderated blog, and unacceptable language will not be tolerated.  When the mouth is in the gutter, the mind … Continue reading

A Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year

A Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year, to all friends and visitors to Dads & Things and its related website Fathers for Life. In the last few weeks I responded to very few of the about 300 e-mail messages a day received by Fathers for Life.  I still try to read all of those messages, but I had to forgo writing responses, so as to find much-needed time for completing a few neglected house-keeping chores for Fathers for Life: A little over a hundred web pages at Fathers for Life still needed to be converted to the standard web-page design that was first introduced in the beginning … Continue reading
