Prosecutors: Sexual Assaults Staged
By Marissa Cleaver
2009 01 23
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Federal Prosecutors say an alleged sexual assault and attack in the Waldo neighborhood was staged.
Federal prosecutors charged Julie Bernet, 39, of Bucrys, Mo. And Gordon Reabe, Jr., 33 of Lee’s Summit, Mo. with wire fraud on Thursday.
Court documents say Bernet and 23-year old Lindsey Crawford offered to pay Reabe $100,000 to duct tape them and assault both women inside Carwford’s garage on Nov. 25, 2008….
Prosecutors say the women hoped the attacks would force a higher settlement of their sexual harassment lawsuit against a former employer….
Crawford has not been charged….(Full Story)

Irish woman jailed for incest
January 23, 2009 by Walter Schneider.

January 22, 2009
A depraved mother-of-six who tortured her children with years of incest and abuse in a “House of Horrors” has been jailed in Ireland.
The 40-year-old alcoholic, from Co Roscommon, is the first woman in the history of the Irish state to be convicted of incest.
She admitted to being the worst mother in the world after putting her youngsters - who were aged between six and 15 at the time - through a harrowing catalogue of neglect, including forcing her 13-year-old son to have sex with her.
At Roscommon Circuit Court, Judge Miriam Reynolds said she would have given the unnamed woman a life sentence had she been a man but was restricted by the terms of a legal act carrying a maximum sentence of seven years for incest cases involving women….(Full Story)

F4L: The article does not state how much of a sentence the woman received and how much of it she will serve. It does state, however, that the woman “suffers from depression and asthma and has a drink problem.” That alone should have been enough to let her off lightly, the poor woman, right?

Killer of three-year-old foster child free to walk the streets while awaiting sentencing
By ANDREW HANON
Two years after her three-year-old foster child died of cranial trauma so severe that it left his brain “popping out of his skull,” the killer still walks around a free woman.
And it will be another three months before a judge finally determines an appropriate punishment for her deplorable crime….(Full Story)
_________________
F4L: The article reports that, “The judge wants the psychiatric assessment [the unfinished assessment that caused the sentencing hearing to be postponed] to include potentially “mitigating circumstances,” like whether she found the boy to be difficult, whether the foster mom was under too much stress and whether she “sought to be a foster mother for commendable reasons.”
What a travesty. The judge is obviously hunting for anything that enables him to exonerate the killer. That that is so is not surprising. Anything will do to permit a women to kill with impunity. If it was not a man, her husband, brother, uncle, father or any other man who “made her do it,” then even the devil, her inner demons or the allegation that she just couldn’t help herself will suffice. In this case it is enough that the judge appears to feel that mitigating circumstances need to be found that prove that her victim, a little boy, drove her to kill him in a rage although she may have had commendable reasons for becoming his foster mother.
However, what about the fact that we are not entitled to get to know here name? “The killer, who cannot be named in order to protect the victim’s identity, was convicted of manslaughter in November for the January 2007 death of a little boy entrusted to her safekeeping.”
What is there to protect? The boy is dead! The killer, even though only convicted of manslaughter in November of 2007 for murdering the little boy, is still free.
