Woman receives 4-year sentence for murder of husband
January 9, 2009 by Walter Schneider.
Australia: Four years’ jail for killing husband in drunken rage
from Mensactivism.org - Men’s Rights News & Info by anthony
Story here. Excerpt:
‘Chaim Kimel, 55, died on the operating table at St Vincent’s Hospital, just hours after an argument about the couple’s catering business turned violent.
A jury earlier this year found Stewart, 32, not guilty of his murder but guilty of manslaughter.
In court yesterday, Stewart was sentenced to four years and six months in jail, with a non-parole period of four years.
She will be eligible for release in June 2011.
Stewart sobbed as Justice Jane Mathews spoke of her history of drug and alcohol abuse, anorexia and self-harm; she had suffered the childhood traumas of her mother dying of breast cancer and of sexual abuse by three different people.
…
Stewart had told psychiatrists she believed Mr Kimel to be dominating her in the relationship. But Justice Mathews said whatever perception Stewart had of her husband’s behaviour, it was probably “designed to shield her from her own excesses.’

F4L: Yes, there always is an excuse. If it was not her husband or any other man who made her do it, then the next in line are the devil or her inner demons. If everything else fails, the poor murdering mama can always claim nothing more than that she just could not help herself and just had to do it.

Woman who murdered husband not charged
January 9, 2009 by Walter Schneider.
DA won’t charge wife who killed abusive husband
This story may indicate we’ve moved to a new stage in our treatment of women who kill their husbands: if she alleges abuse, don’t bother filing charges. Kill your husband, claim abuse, walk away. There’s no indication the wife was in immediate danger nor are details provided about the man’s alleged “pattern of violence.”
Excerpt:
“More than a year after the shooting death of Trinidad attorney Jim Tatum by his wife Ann, a court-appointed prosecutor has decided not to file criminal charges.
The shooting in the Tatum home just outside Trinidad ended a stormy marriage. Although Ann Tatum never denied shooting her husband multiple times in their kitchen — the event was witnessed by a deputy sheriff — Jim Tatum’s pattern of violence against her surfaced early on as a possible legal defense.”
__________________
F4L: Of course the alleged perpetrator of the violence against the woman is not onger around to defend himself. He received his “just” deserves and is now quite dead.
Whatever happened to the maxim that “there is no excuse” when it comes to domestic violence?
Do we deserve two sets of laws or two sets of interpretations of the law? We must, because, all evidence to the contrary, “women are good and men are bad.”

Drunk woman driver kills toddler
January 9, 2009 by Walter Schneider.
UK: Female drunk driver jailed for seven years for toddler’s death
Story here. Excerpt:
The mother of a toddler crushed to death against school gates by the 4×4 of a drink driver said today: ‘Every day is a living hell.’
Tina Woods, 31, was speaking after a woman was jailed for seven years for causing the death of her 15-month-old son Finlay.
The boy was in his pushchair with his mother when a Toyota Hilux veered towards them outside Selwyn primary school in Chingford last September.
At the wheel was Katie Gutierrez-Perez, 40, who was driving to hospital after a failed suicide attempt and had binged on drink and sleeping pills.
Witnesses said that after the initial impact the 4×4 repeatedly rammed into the gates, each time crushing the pushchair, Snaresbrook Crown Court in London heard.
Twenty parents and passers-by tried to lift the car off him but he died of severe head injuries.’

4×4 buggy killer driver is jailed
By MIKE SULLIVAN
Crime Editor
A WOMAN who killed a toddler by smashing her 4×4 into his pushchair was jailed for seven years yesterday.
Suicidal Katie Gutierrez-Perez, 40, had swallowed sleeping pills, cider and wine after bailiffs snatched her home and business — but was driving to hospital after a change of heart. …(Full Story)
______________
F4L: She was not truly suicidal, right? After all, if she really would have been, she would not have been driving. I wonder why she did not call 999? Was her phone cut off, or did she think that it was easier to drive in her condition instead of dialing 999? Was her neighbour’s phone cut off, too?

UK: Wife kills husband in booze row
from Mensactivism.org - Men’s Rights News & Info by anthony
Story here. Excerpt:
‘A Leeds woman has been jailed for life after stabbing her partner to death in a row over whose turn it was to buy booze from the off-licence.
David Rider, 44, bled to death after Lesley Buck, 40 , pictured, thrust a kitchen knife through his leg as he sat on the sofa.
When police and paramedics attended her house in Belle Isle, Leeds, Buck seemed more interested in reading the newspaper and watching TV, a court heard.
After delivering the fatal blow, Buck walked to a phone box to dial 999 and claimed her partner’s injuries were self-inflicted.
…
Ordering Buck to serve a minimum of 10 years before being considered for parole, judge Scott Wolstenholme, told her: “It was senseless, drunken and lethal violence on your part which has caused a man to lose his life.”‘

Woman admits burning 5 children, killing 1
from Mensactivism.org - Men’s Rights News & Info by
Story here. Excerpt:
‘Saying she wanted to avoid putting her children through another ordeal, a Colorado Springs woman accepted a plea deal Friday and admitted she poured gasoline on her five children and lit them on fire, killing one.
Maria Darlene Gardner, who also uses the last name Joseph, pleaded guilty to child abuse causing death and four counts of child abuse causing serious bodily injury. The deal was mediated Friday before Senior 4th Judicial District Judge Richard Toth.
In exchange for her pleas, prosecutors Jeff Lindsey and Debbie Pearson dropped charges of first-degree murder and 11 other charges.
Gardner, 26, will be sentenced to between 75 and 85 years in prison Feb. 20.
…
“I thought we could win with the insanity defense,” McHenry said. “An expert psychologist examined her within four days of the fire and decided she was completely psychotic at the time. She chose to do this so her kids would not have to be put through the trauma of testifying in open court.”‘

Should Dr. Crippen be exonerated?
January 9, 2009 by Walter Schneider.
Evening Standard, England
Give Crippen a pardon, says descendant
Danny Buckland
31.12.08
DESCENDANTS of infamous wife-killer Dr Hawley Crippen have demanded that his body is exhumed and he is given a posthumous pardon.
A legal challenge has been lodged against the conviction of Crippen for the murder of his wife Cora which scandalised Victorian society.
Crippen, the first fugitive to be caught with the use of wireless telegraphy, was hanged 99 years ago. However, his closest descendant Patrick Crippen claims that new DNA evidence shows the remains discovered under the cellar at Dr Crippen’s north London home belonged to a man.
Mr Crippen, a former senior marketing executive from Dayton, Ohio, said: “He did not kill his wife, of that I am sure and the evidence is overwhelming that the body was male. It is a celebrated horror case but the prosecution was entirely wrong.
“There was so much furore around the case that Hawley was bound to be found guilty. The jury took just 27 minutes. The DNA evidence and a longer, more sober look at the facts reveals this is a gross miscarriage of justice.”….(Full Story)
______________
F4L: It is very common for false allegations to be levelled against men and for such men then to be convicted of crimes that they did not commit, al the more so if the alleged victim is a woman. Even though it very rarely happens that men will be cleared of such wrongful convictions, it may well be that Dr. Crippen may still have been involved in the crime that caused a murder victim to be buried in the basement of his house.
However, he should without a doubt be exonerated of having murdered his wife, if the DNA tests on the discovered murder victim, a man, prove to be correct. That will without a doubt provide a good-sized income to all who will be involved in proving that the law, no matter how much time goes by, is incorruptible.
Yet, there is still the question of where Dr. Crippen’s wife disappeared to and whose man’s body it is that was found in Dr. Crippen’s basement. Did Dr. Crippen’s wife do that deed, and did she on account of that then make herself scarce?
Without a doubt there is a lot more money that can be made by the legal industry by applying itself to solving those questions. Whatever the courts will come up with may not necessarily be the truth, but we can be sure of a couple of things, it will be a finding that is backed up by the full power of the law, and it will have made a lot of lawyers richer; and don’t forget, judges are lawyers, too.
Oh, what a glorious case this is! It could easily carry on for years until all money that can be made available runs out. Charles Dickens would have written a book about it.

The Catalog of Anti-Male Shaming Tactics
January 9, 2009 by Walter Schneider.
Found at Men for Justice
Posted there on Friday, 09 June 2006
(The article was apparently copied from a May 2006 posting at another blog but is no longer online there. I could not find an earlier instance of the article on the Internet. –WHS)
Author unknown
“Shaming tactics.” This phrase is familiar to many Men’s Rights Activists. It conjures up the histrionic behavior of female detractors who refuse to argue their points with logic. Yet women are not the only ones guilty of using shaming tactics against men. Male gynocentrists use them, too.
Shaming tactics are emotional devices meant to play on a man’s insecurities and shut down debate. They are meant to elicit sympathy for women and to demonize men who ask hard questions. Most, if not all, shaming tactics are basically ad homimem attacks.
Anyway, it might be helpful to categorize the major shaming tactics that are used against men whenever a discussion arises about feminism, men’s issues, romance, etc. The following list contains descriptions of shaming tactics, some examples of quotes employing the tactics, and even color-coded aliases for mnemonic purposes. Enjoy.
Charge of Irascibility (Code Red)Discussion: The target is accused of having anger management issues. Whatever negative emotions he has are assumed to be unjustifiable. Examples:
Response: Anger is a legitimate emotion in the face of injustice. It is important to remember that passive acceptance of evil is not a virtue. |
Charge of Cowardice (Code Yellow)Discussion: The target is accused of having an unjustifiable fear of interaction with women. Examples:
Response: It is important to remember that there is a difference between bravery and stupidity. The only risks that reasonable people dare to take are calculated risks. One weighs the likely costs and benefits of said risks. As it is, some men are finding out that many women fail a cost-benefit analysis. |
| Charge of Hypersensitivity (Code Blue) - The Crybaby Charge Discussion: The target is accused of being hysterical or exaggerating the problems of men (i.e., he is accused of playing “Chicken Little”). Examples:
Response: One who uses the Code Blue shaming tactic reveals a callous indifference to the humanity of men. It may be constructive to confront such an accuser and ask if a certain problem men face needs to be addressed or not (”yes” or “no”), however small it may be seem to be. If the accuser answers in the negative, it may constructive to ask why any man should care about the accuser’s welfare since the favor will obviously not be returned. If the accuser claims to be unable to do anything about the said problem, one can ask the accuser why an attack is necessary against those who are doing something about it. |
Charge of Puerility (Code Green) - The Peter Pan ChargeDiscussion: The target is accused of being immature and/or irresponsible in some manner that reflects badly on his status as an adult male. Examples:
Response: It should be remembered that one’s sexual history, marital status, parental status, etc. are not reliable indicators of maturity and accountability. If they were, then we would not hear of white collar crime, divorce, teen sex, unplanned pregnancies, extramarital affairs, etc. |
| Charge of Endangerment (Code Orange) - The Elevated Threat Charge Discussion: The target is accused of being a menace in some undefined manner. This charge may be coupled with some attempt to censor the target. Examples:
Response: It may be constructive to point out that only bigots and tyrants are afraid of having the truth expressed to them. One may also ask why some women think they can handle leadership roles if they are so threatened by a man’s legitimate freedom of expression. |
Charge of Rationalization (Code Purple) - The Sour Grapes ChargeDiscussion: The target is accused of explaining away his own failures and/or dissatisfaction by blaming women for his problems. Example:
Response: In this case, it must be asked if it really matters how one arrives at the truth. In other words, one may submit to the accuser, “What if the grapes really are sour?” At any rate, the Code Purple shaming tactic is an example of what is called “circumstantial ad hominem.” |
Charge of Fanaticism (Code Brown) - The Brown Shirts ChargeDiscussion: The target is accused of subscribing to an intolerant, extremist ideology or of being devoted to an ignorant viewpoint. Examples:
Response: One should remember that the truth is not decided by the number of people subscribing to it. Whether or not certain ideas are “out of the mainstream” is besides the point. A correct conclusion is also not necessarily reached by embracing some middle ground between two opposing viewpoints (i.e., the logical fallacy of “False Compromise”). |
| Charge of Invirility (Code Lavender)Discussion: The target’s sexual orientation or masculinity is called into question. Examples:* “Are you gay?” * “I need a real man, not a sissy.” * “You’re such a wimp.”Response: Unless one is working for religious conservatives, it is usually of little consequence if a straight man leaves his accusers guessing about his sexual orientation. |
| Charge of Overgeneralization (Code Gray) Discussion: The target is accused of making generalizations or supporting unwarranted stereotypes about women. Examples:
Response: One may point out that feminists and many other women make generalizations about men. Quotations from feminists, for example, can be easily obtained to prove this point. Also, one should note that pointing to a trend is not the same as overgeneralizing. Although not all women may have a certain characteristic, a significant amount of them might. |
Charge of Misogyny (Code Black)Discussion: The target is accused of displaying some form of unwarranted malice to a particular woman or to women in general. Examples:
Response: One may ask the accuser how does a pro-male agenda become inherently anti-female (especially since feminists often claim that gains for men and women are “not a zero-sum game”). One may also ask the accuser how do they account for women who agree with the target’s viewpoints. The Code Black shaming tactic often integrates the logical fallacies of “argumentum ad misericordiam” (viz., argumentation based on pity for women) and/or “argumentum in terrorem” (viz., arousing fear about what the target wants to do to women). |
Charge of Instability (Code White) - The White Padded Room ChargeDiscussion: The target is accused of being emotionally or mentally unstable. Examples:
Response: In response to this attack, one may point to peer-reviewed literature and then ask the accuser if the target’s mental and/or emotional condition can explain the existence of valid research on the matter. |
Charge of Selfishness (Code Silver)Discussion: This attack is self-explanatory. It is a common charge hurled at men who do not want to be bothered with romantic pursuits. Examples:
Response: It may be beneficial to turn the accusation back on the one pressing the charge. For instance, one may retort, “So you are saying I shouldn’t spend my money on myself, but should instead spend it on a woman like you —and you accuse me of being selfish?? Just what were you planning to do for me anyway?” |
Charge of Superficiality (Code Gold) - The All-That-Glitters ChargeDiscussion: The charge of superficiality is usually hurled at men with regard to their mating preferences. Examples:
Response: Average-looking women can be just as problematic in their behavior as beautiful, “high-maintanence” women. Regarding the shallowness of women, popular media furnishes plenty of examples where petty demands are made of men by females (viz., those notorious laundry lists of things a man should/should not do for his girlfriend or wife). |
Charge of Unattractiveness (Code Tan) - The Ugly Tan ChargeDiscussion: The target is accused of having no romantic potential as far as women are concerned. Examples:
Response: This is another example of “circumstantial ad hominem.” The target’s romantic potential ultimately does not reflect on the merit of his arguments. |
Charge of Defeatism (Code Maroon)Discussion: This shaming tactic is akin to the Charge of Irascibility and the Charge of Cowardice in that the accuser attacks the target’s negative or guarded attitude about a situation. However, the focus is not so much on the target’s anger or fear, but on the target’s supposed attitude of resignation. Examples:
Response: The charge of defeatism can be diffused by explaining that one is merely being realistic about a situation. Also, one can point out that asking men to just accept their mistreatment at the hands of women and society is the real attitude that is defeatist. Many men have not lost their resolve; many have lost their patience. |
Threat of Withheld Affection (Code Pink) - The Pink WhipDiscussion: The target is admonished that his viewpoints or behavior will cause women to reject him as a mate. Examples:
Response: This is an example of the logical fallacy “argumentum ad baculum” (the “appeal to force”). The accuser attempts to negate the validity of a position by pointing to some undesirable circumstance that will befall anyone who takes said position. Really, the only way to deal with the “Pink Whip” is to realize that a man’s happiness and worth is not based on his romantic conquests (including marriage). |
________________
F4L: It seems that the various entries in the list of shaming tactics, in whatever form they originally appeared, were colour-coded. A lot of colours could be confusing to many and, moreover, will cause problems when trying to print this. For that reason it has not been attempted here to recreate the coloured backgrounds for the various entries in the list.
