A history of the decline and fall of the family
January 1, 2009 by Walter Schneider.
The article identified at the end of the comment in this posting focuses on the American family. The following is a summary of the impressions I gained from reading the article.
What the article describes applies in all developed nations, and increasingly so in the developing ones. The article provides an explanation of why some homosexuals pairs now want to become married.
The homosexuals who now clamor to be given the right to marry were not all that long ago opposed to becoming married. That they now changed their minds on that is because during the last five decades the institution of marriage has been so extensively redefined, and its fundamental aspects and attributes so extensively deconstructed, that marriage no longer does what it had been doing for thousands of years, create and foster an effective symbiosis of marriage and civilization.
Marriage had in effect been the glue that held civilization together, made it strong and caused it to reach heights that it had never before been able to attain.
In the short span of time of not quite two generations, all of the aspects of marriage that were necessary to make civilization possible and strong had been legislated out of existence. Then homosexual pairs wanted in on something that no longer demanded from its participants those obligations that had made marriage an essential ingredient without which civilization could no longer function as well as it once did.
What once had made America (and all other nations) great has been engineered out of existence. We now must live with the consequences of that and may as well let homosexual pairs avail themselves, which they are perfectly happy to do, of an institution that is nothing more than a useless empty shell of something that in its former glory was the design for strong social building blocks from which a strong society had been constructed. The empty shells of those building blocks, whether they ostensibly still are “whole” or have been broken and crushed by divorce and separation, now are ruins and rubble that litter the social landscape.
We try to scavenge from the ruins and rubble what we can, but nothing much useful can be created from what we manage to salvage. Strong and well-functioning societies cannot be constructed from empty shells and their broken remains.
Moreover, it should be clear to all who were or still are active in bringing about the decline and fall of the family that the objective for which all of that social deconstruction was undertaken will fail: the creation of a global socialist totalitarian state.
It is a characteristic of any decaying civilization that the great masses of the people are unaware of the tragedy. Humanity in a crisis is generally insensitive to the gravity of the times in which it lives. Men do not want to believe their own times are wicked, partly because they have no standard outside of themselves by which to measure their times. If there is no fixed concept of justice, how shall men know it is violated? Only those who live by faith really know what is happening in the world; the great masses without faith are unconscious of the destructive processes going on, because they have lost the vision of the heights from which they have fallen.
