What Can We Learn from Quebec’s Universal Childcare Program?

Several measures we looked at suggest that children were worse off in the years following the introduction of the universal childcare program. We studied a wide range of measures of child well-being, from anxiety and hyperactivity to social and motor skills. For almost every measure, we find that the increased use of childcare was associated with a decrease in their well-being relative to other children.

Furthermore, we find that several important measures of well-being show parents to be worse off. The survey data showed that mothers of the children in daycare were more depressed, as indicated by the significant rise in their depression scores relative to the average.

F4L: None of those are nice scenarios, but we can be sure that the promoters of [9] daycare to bring about the planned destruction of the family will rationalize all of those problems away.  They have their minds firmly made up.  Facts will not confuse them.

Why the all-out promotion of daycare?  Well, there is money to be made, all the more so if the way it is to be made is by diktat of the government, but that is not the main reason.  The main reason is firmly rooted in socialist ideology and driven by it.
