What Can We Learn from Quebec’s Universal Childcare Program?

By Michael Baker, Jonathan Gruber and Kevin Milligan

February 1, 2006

Several measures we looked at suggest that children were worse off in the years following the introduction of the universal childcare program. We studied a wide range of measures of child well-being, from anxiety and hyperactivity to social and motor skills. For almost every measure, we find that the increased use of childcare was associated with a decrease in their well-being relative to other children.

Furthermore, we find that several important measures of well-being show parents to be worse off. The survey data showed that mothers of the children in daycare were more depressed, as indicated by the significant rise in their depression scores relative to the average.

F4L: None of those are nice scenarios, but we can be sure that the promoters of daycare to bring about the planned destruction of the family will rationalize all of those problems away.  They have their minds firmly made up.  Facts will not confuse them.

Why the all-out promotion of daycare?  Well, there is money to be made, all the more so if the way it is to be made is by diktat of the government, but that is not the main reason.  The main reason is firmly rooted in socialist ideology and driven by it.

  • Plato, in Republic, has Socrates offer this advice to philosopher kings:     Take all the children from their parents and rid the city of adults.
  • Who owns the youths controls the future. — Slogan used by Napoleon and also by the founders of the Wandervogel (”bird of passage”, the enormously popular youth movement that began in about 1880 in Germany and produced many of the prominent — and often homosexual — Nazi leaders)
  • Give me your 4-year-olds, and within one generation I’ll construct a socialist state. — Lenin
  • [The State] must set race in the center of all life. It must take care to keep it pure. It must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. It must  see to it that only the healthy beget children…. — Hitler, in Mein Kampf
  • First they came for the fathers, then for the mothers, and now for both parents in intact families.  In the end all children will be in the care, custody and control of the State. — Walter H. Schneider

VITAMIN E, VITAMIN C & SELENIUM DO NOT PREVENT CANCER

VITAMIN E, VITAMIN C & SELENIUM DO NOT PREVENT CANCER

Postscript:  A Possible Cure for Down’s Syndrome

By, Robert A. Wascher, MD, FACS

2008 12 14

These past 5 years have seen the dashing of the hopes of many cancer physicians and researchers who, like me, had hoped that antioxidant vitamin supplements would prove to be potent cancer prevention agents.  These hopes were built up over the previous decade as multiple clinical and laboratory studies reported encouraging results with Vitamin E, Vitamin C and selenium in the prevention of breast cancer, prostate cancer, and other types of cancer.  However, most of these studies were performed using research methods that are far less rigorous than the “gold standard” prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial….(Full Story)

Healdsburg man stabbed in neck

Plea delay for slaying suspect
Prosecutor says Healdsburg man stabbed in neck

Autopsy results are expected today for a 46-year-old Healdsburg man killed in a domestic dispute, but a prosecutor said Tuesday that Daniel Mooney apparently was stabbed twice in the neck.

Mooney’s, girlfriend Sheyna Douprea, 23, faces a murder charge for his death, and appeared briefly in Sonoma County court early Tuesday but did not enter a plea….(Full Story)

F4L: The article states that,

Domestic violence cases involving women arrested for homicide in Sonoma County are infrequent.

“We’ve had half a dozen in the last decade or so,” said Sonoma County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Joan Risse.

“It’s very rare,” said veteran defense attorney Chris Andrian, who has worked in Sonoma County more than three decades.

and then recounts some of those cases.

Certainly, “Domestic violence cases involving women arrested for homicide in Sonoma County are infrequent” are rare in the eyes  Joan Risse and Chris Andrian, but men comprise more than 40 percent of DV murder victims, nationally in the US, and that includes only those male victims whose murders were brought to trial.

Many murders of men are never brought to trial and remain unsolved (especially when contract killers or poison were used).  That is not necessarily but quite possibly due to the fact that wives and girlfriends are frequently the last suspected in those unsolved murders of men, or, if they are, not brought to trial or have their crimes pleaded down to a lesser offence.

Prof. Martin Fiebert’s analyses of studies of intimate partner violence puts a different perspective on the issue of female violence against male spouses.

SUMMARY:  This bibliography examines 246 scholarly investigations: 187 empirical studies and 59 reviews and/or analyses, which demonstrate that women are as physically aggressive, or more aggressive, than men in their relationships with their spouses or male partners.  The aggregate sample size in the reviewed studies exceeds 237,750.

The difference between perceptions,  such as those expressed in the opinions by Joan Risse and Chris Andrian, of the frequency of female violence and the  study reports examined by Prof. Martin Fiebert constitutes the extent of pro-female and anti-male bias held by officials who ignore the scientific evidence of intimate partner violence.

When it comes to violence against weaker and younger victims, women undoubtedly predominate, by far, as the perpetrators of serious and fatal violence against children in families.

Hillary Clinton, feminist-at-large
By Carey Roberts

Remember Whack-a-Mole? The theme park game that features insouciant plastic rodents popping out of the hole — Whack! Here comes another one — WHACK!

That’s the image that comes to mind as I ponder Hillary Clinton’s controversial career: Staunch defender of a wayward Commander-in-Chief. Achievement-free senator from New York. Once-inevitable presidential candidate.

And just when you think the drama has thankfully drawn to a close, the curtain rises on yet another act….(Full Story)

Secrecy of U.K. family courts is to end

From Manumit:

As always, it is judicious to wait and see if the reality matches the promises.

The British ‘family’ courts also seem to deal a lot with child ‘protection’
matters, and not just matrimonial separation and divorce.

‘Access all areas’ for media so justice is seen to be done
By Frances Gibb, Legal Editor

The secrecy of the family courts – in which nearly 95,000 cases are heard
in private each year – is to end under reforms announced yesterday that
will allow the media access to all levels of the system. The move could
mean that social workers and expert witnesses who fail children, and now
enjoy the protection of anonymity, will in future be named publicly when
criticised by judges.

Jack Straw, the Justice Secretary, said that from April the media would be
permitted access to all family cases in all courts – from celebrity
divorces to hearings over domestic violence or children being removed from
families.

“A really important veil is being lifted on what happens in these courts,”
he said….(Full Story)
