Mom killed her 3 young boys and herself

Citrus County authorities say mom killed herself and 3 young boys

FLORAL CITY — When the grandmother got home Thursday evening, the door to her daughter’s room was already shut.

Vickie Maslowski figured her 23-year-old daughter and her three sons — all under the age of 5 — had gone to bed.

When Maslowski opened the bedroom door the next morning, she was greeted by a horrible and bloody scene.

Her daughter, Alicia Chomic, and the three boys were dead.

The mother and her two oldest sons lay on the bed. The youngest was in a bassinet.

Citrus County sheriff’s officials said they believe Chomic shot her three sons in the mobile home sometime Thursday night, then turned the gun on herself….(Full Story)

Comment by F4L: The article is so typical in its male-bashing that it is almost funny, if it were not so atrociously stereotypical.

The killer is described as a victim who had had a difficult life, without saying more than that she was a quiet, nice woman whose murderous crime was without reason or explanation.

The article then goes on to vilify the two fathers of her sons, without offering an explanation what they had done to motivate the mother to commit the murders.  Not only that, but, to round out the impression that all men are evil and all women are good, the article even drags in the recent and totally unrelated rape and murder of a nine-year-old girl.

The article does not focus on the horrible murders committed by the murdering mama, other than using the murders and suicide as an excuse to launch into an unjustified and irrelevant tirade of male-bashing of which we see increasingly more and more in the media.  It is a trial by media that exonerates the murderer and vilifies men who had absolutely nothing to do with the deed.

The principle used in the article to divert attention from the real culprit is comparable to that used by a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar who looks out the window, points, and yells: “Oh! Look at the bird!” Of such things anti-male propaganda is made, and nothing more is required to make it work, serving to turn all men into not even second-class citizens but to make them appear to be sub-human.

Another elected dictatorship, conservative, but so what?

Why Stephen Harper should be retired

By Fr. Alphonse de Valk

Issue: November 2008

After the election of October 14, a number of political observers concluded that Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s time is coming to an end.  Don Martin in the National Post ( Oct.14), still argued that Harper had won the election and now is secure in the saddle. Half a dozen others, however, saw his third failure to obtain a majority in the House of Commons as a sign pointing to the exit. Lawrence Martin of the Globe and Mail wrote that Harper will be gone before “the next vote” (Oct. 16)….

In general the commentators emphasized similar failures in analyzing why Stephen Harper did not get his majority. As the only spokesman for the Conservatives, all other MPs having been silenced once more, the blame, they said, falls squarely on him, mostly because of his autocratic personality….

Yes, the Harper government has made some improvements, such as the abolition of the Court Challenges Program, the appointment of judges opposed to judicial activism, and extending child support directly to families instead of spending billions on centralized daycare.

However, none of this makes up for the most grievous flaw of all, Harper’s outright and brutal rejection of the pro-life ethic in defence of the dignity of all persons, newly re-iterated in the most blatant way possible….(Full Story)
