Statement from His Grace, Thomas Collins, Archbishop of Toronto re: Appointment of Henry Morgentaler to the Order of Canada:

TORONTO, July 1 /CNW/ - Canada’s highest honour has been debased. Henry
Morgentaler has been awarded the Order of Canada. We are all diminished.
A community’s worth is measured by the way it treats the most vulnerable,
and no one is more vulnerable than in the first nine months of life’s journey.
No person may presume to judge the soul of Henry Morgentaler, but it cannot be
denied that the effect of his life’s work has been a deadly assault upon the
most helpless amongst us.
Canada glories in the names of Banting and Best, and the other medical
heroes who selflessly brought healing where there was disease and suffering.
Now it honours with the Order of Canada a medical man who has brought not
healing, but the destruction of the defenseless and immeasurable grief. This

Note by F4L: Consider that Canada had to double its rate at which immigrants are let into the country to compensate for the birth dearth that is caused by the legalization of abortions, that Henry Morgentaler is being honoured for what is putting our nation into decline, and that [2] right now in the USA a woman will be tried for murder and quite possibly sentenced to death for doing with a passion what Henry Morgentaler does for a living and to further his career — for doing which Henry Morgentaler is being honoured.  Things most certainly have become very confused with what once were absolute moral standards in Canada.

[3] Does Canada deserve to decline peacefully into oblivion and moral chaos, ultimately to vanish or to change into something that is no longer recognizable? Why would anyone worry about any possible threat to Canada’s existence when our once-great nation is doing such an excellent job of bringing about its own demise through systematically dismantling itself and its moral foundation?
